What we've achieved under Katherine Cooper's leadership:

Excellence in Academic Achievement 

The district continued to increase math scores and was one of only four districts statewide to do so in 2022, following the pandemic.

 

 

Expanded Access to Inclusive Summer Programs

Summer school attendance increased from about 300 students to over 2000 students, including special education students, in the inclusive summer school program.

 

 

Leading the Nation in Health and Wellness

 

All 15 schools in the district were recognized as “America’s Healthiest
Schools”. And 9 of the 14 schools nationwide, recognized in all categories,
were from our district.

 

 

Enhanced Campus Safety and Attendance

Chronic absenteeism was reduced to pre-pandemic levels. State of the art safety projects were completed to make secure safe campuses for the students, the staff and the community.

 

Modernizing Infrastructure for 21st Century Learning

New buildings (6) and complete remodels (9) were completed to support
21st century learning.

 

Maintain Fiscal Responsibility

The district remained fiscally sound during very challenging financial times,
while still supporting our students and staff with the resources they need.

 

Recognized as the Best School District in SCV

Saugus USD was named 2024 Best School District in SCV by 30,000 community members.
